What to Expect as a New Canopy Lawn Care Customer

A Canopy Lawn Care professional partners with homeowners to build healthier, more resilient lawns from the soil up.

At Canopy Lawn Care, we don’t just treat grass—we build soil. Our proprietary HealthyLawn Program is unlike anything else in the lawn care industry. Rooted in a soil-first approach, our program regenerates the biology beneath your feet, resulting in greener, healthier, and more resilient lawns—with significantly less reliance on synthetic chemicals.

What We Deliver

  1. Proprietary inputs that improve soil health – no one else is doing this! Each application—whether granular or liquid—contains carefully selected materials such as repurposed coffee grounds, corn gluten, amino acids, sea kelp, and active carbon. These inputs feed the soil microbiome, drive nutrient cycling, improve water retention, and increase your lawn’s resilience to stress, drought, and disease.
  2. Precision weed control through proper timing.  Weeds are best controlled before they appear, which is why we emphasize split applications of pre-emergent products in early spring and fall (when appropriate for your region). These pre-emergents form a protective barrier in the soil that prevents weed seeds—like crabgrass and poa annua—from germinating. Our timing is driven by soil temperature tracking and regional cues (such as forsythia bloom) to ensure effective and timely application. For weeds that do break through, we rely on targeted post-emergent spot treatments applied only when necessary. This approach avoids unnecessary chemical exposure and protects the health of your turf and soil.  If weeds pop up between scheduled visits, we’re happy to provide free service calls—we just ask that you wait at least 21 days after your last treatment before contacting us. That window reflects the minimum labeled retreatment interval for the post-emergent herbicides we use and ensures your lawn has had enough time to respond to the previous application.
  3. Fewer chemicals, smarter applications. Thanks to our soil-first approach, we’ve significantly reduced synthetic pesticide use. Our fertilizers are safe, low in salt, and free from biosolids or “forever chemicals,” supporting a thriving soil ecosystem and healthier, more stress-tolerant turf.
  4. Smarter water use. Our customers typically experience reduced watering needs after establishment, especially with lawns where proper root development is supported by our soil-first program and resilient seed choices. These varieties perform better through seasonal stress and can endure dry periods more effectively than conventional turf.
  5. Continuous improvement. Transforming a lawn takes time. While every application builds a stronger foundation, most lawns take at least three full growing seasons to reach their full potential. What we deliver from day one is progress—visible improvements, better resilience, and a healthier system from the roots up.

What We Expect from You

To maximize the success of your lawn care program, your partnership is essential. Here’s what we need from you:

  1. Water appropriately when needed. We only recommend watering after we’ve aerated and seeded your property or during extended dry spells when no local watering restrictions are in place. In these cases, keeping the soil consistently moist is critical to help new seed establish and support healthy plant growth.
  2. Mow smart. Always mow with sharp blades and avoid removing more than one-third of the grass blade at a time. Skip mowing during drought stress and wait until new seedlings are fully established before cutting newly seeded areas.
  3. Avoid DIY treatments. Our program is precisely calibrated. Adding your own fertilizers, herbicides, or seed blends can interfere with our results and compromise lawn health. If you’re unsure about something, just ask—we’re happy to help.
  4. Be patient and stay committed. Building a healthy lawn is a journey, not a quick fix. Most properties take three seasons to fully establish the kind of resilient, low-maintenance lawn we aim to grow. Staying the course gives our biology-driven approach time to do its work.
  5. Keep us in the loop. If something looks off—brown spots, new weed growth, or watering issues—reach out. Early communication allows us to adjust treatments or offer recommendations before small problems become big ones.

A Healthier Lawn Starts with Healthier Soil

Choosing Canopy means choosing lawn care as nature intended. Our proprietary program harnesses the power of the soil microbiome to grow lawns that are not only beautiful, but resilient and sustainable. With your partnership, we’ll build a lawn you can be proud of—season after season.
