Pine Straw Bed Application

Pine straw is a local favorite for enhancing natural areas, and it’s no wonder. There is a certain charm and sense of belonging that comes with using this indigenous ground cover for your beds.

Refresh your beds with newly harvested pine needles!

The long leaf pine is the unofficial state tree of North Carolina, so it seems appropriate to adorn your landscape beds with the needles of this beautiful evergreen. Typically pine straw beds are refreshed 1-2 times per year, restoring both color and volume to your landscape beds and enhancing the overall beauty of your property. Here’s how it works:

1) We’ll give you a quote based on the amount of pine straw that you would like applied (we can provide you with a recommendation).
2) We’ll install your pine straw in your landscape beds and ensure the edges are tucked and clean.
3) We’ll blow off driveways, walkways, and lawn areas adjacent to your natural areas after installation.

Pine straw does add more acidity to your soil, so be sure to ask our professionals about interaction with specific plants before you order. If you would like more information, or to receive your custom quote please give us a call today, we’d love to help!

How you can receive this service

At Canopy we only offer our maintenance services as part of our annual landscape subscriptions. We do this so for two reasons; first, so we can provide the highest level of service to our customers, and second, so we can have more control over the results of the services being provided to your property.

We offer add-on subscriptions in the form of irrigation service and lawn pest control to our maintenance customers, so a base maintenance package is required in order to be eligible for an add on subscription. Have questions about this service?

Do you come on the weekends?

We do our best to not work on your lawn and landscape on the weekends, but sometimes we will have to visit your property on a Saturday, based on weather or scheduling. We try to allow you to enjoy your lawn as much as possible on the weekends, also we like to hang out with our family and friends on the weekends ourselves!

How do I prepare my beds prior to pine straw installation?

Since we only offer this enhancement to current maintenance customers, we will prepare your beds as part of your service. We will hand pull or spray your weeds with a post-emergent weed control prior to your pine straw installation. In addition we will remove leaves and other loose debris as necessary.

How often should I have pine straw installed?

We recommend installing pine straw at least once a year.

Why should I install pine straw?

A good layer of pine straw will reduce evaporation from the soil, improve the penetration of water, help control the fluctuation of soil temperatures protecting plants from the damage of extremely cold temperatures, add nutrients to the soil as the pine straw decomposes, and suppress the growth of weeds.

What is your commitment/guarantee?

We guarantee 100% satisfaction for our customers. We will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy with the service you receive. If you are not happy with the service you received, we will do everything in our power to make it right. If you are still unsatisfied with our work, we will refund the amount of your last visit. It’s that simple!

What is a Site Visit?

If you have a question or concern regarding your property’s condition, please call Canopy and we will schedule a free Site Visit to meet you on your property, if needed, to address your concerns.

What if it rains?

We work diligently to complete all services on your scheduled day. If we do have a rain event that leads to a rescheduling, you will be notified via email and/or text. This notification will let you know your new service day.
