Brown patch is caused by a fungus that can affect all types of warm and cool seasons grasses. You’ll know you have a problem if you begin to see areas of your lawn that are thinning and turning brown or yellow. Warm and humid conditions are good conditions for any fungus to thrive, and lawns are no exception. If left untreated, brown patch can kill your entire lawn and is the most common turf disease in our region.
The best way to preventatively treat for brown patch disease is to properly care for your turf grass in the first place. This means regular mowing, the appropriate amount of watering (especially not overwatering), the appropriate amount of fertilizers, and good drainage. Our fungal monitoring service also includes preventative fungicide applications for cool season grasses in the spring and for warm season in the fall. This service is included in our PremierLawn™ land care subscription.
